SOME
OF THE TERMS WE WILL BE USING:
LSI
(Latent Semantic Indexing)
Google’s new algorithm will scan phrases on a webpage, and
then
analyze these phrases to predict what other (latent-related)
phrases should be on the page. Some phrases will be flagged as
“preferred” phrases (which will help give you more
“points”), other phrases will be flagged as
“poor” phrases (which will decrease your
“points”).
Too many phrases on a webpage and Google will label you as spam, or
stuffing.
KEYWORD
STUFFING:
Keyword
stuffing occurs
when a web page is loaded with keywords in the meta tags or in content.
A word that is repeated too often may raise a red flag to search engines
SERPS:
Short for Search Engine Results Page. The web page
that a
search engine returns with the results of its search. The major search
engines typically display three kinds of listings on their SERPS.
Listings that have been indexed by the search engine’s
spider,
listings that have been indexed into the search engine’s
directory by a human, and listings that are paid to be listed by the
search engine.
LONG TAIL KEYWORDS:
Long tail keywords are keyword phrases which are less popular, less
competitive and less searched for. When taken collectively choosing the
right long tail keywords can significantly increase website traffic
from organic search results (SERPS) even to a new domain, improving
website performance and sales conversions by driving up revenues from
unpaid search engine placement. Here is a great explanation of long
tail keywords and their effectiveness:

KEYWORD DENSITY:
The number of occurrences of a keyword on a page divided by the number
of words on a page. More is not necessarily better, as search engines
look for a certain ratio rather than the highest ratio. If repeated too
often, it could lead to the page being penalized for spamming.
We
will be assembling our keyword and long tail keyword phrases list for
the subject
MoneyLegs.com and building our website copy.
You
will be given homework
assignments that include building your first web page copy around three
major but relevant keywords and one long tail keyword phrase.
We will be exploring how Search
Engines work and how to think like they do. As you gain understanding of
the concepts involved, you will have gained the knowledge to use this
duplicatable system over and over again with any business.
It is extremely critical you follow
each of the steps thoroughly, and even if you are not quite sure what is
happening, please complete the tasks in sequence. The most IMPORTANT
part of this concept is your ability to follow the program as laid out.
This will be of huge assistance to you when you are ready to moderate
your personal SWARM group.
